Transit Services Announces Extended Hours for Transit-Plus Service

Frederick, Md. — Beginning August 31, Transit Services will expand operating hours for Transit‑plus. This critical service provides specialized curb to curb transportation for Frederick County residents 60 or older, or who have disabilities. The expanded schedule will run from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday - Friday, significantly increasing access beyond the current 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. hours.

“Older adults and people with disabilities need reliable transportation to stay active and engaged,” County Executive Jessica Fitzwater said. “Expanding Transit-Plus hours is about meeting people where they are and eliminating obstacles so everyone in Frederick County has the opportunity to thrive.”

For years, people who rely on Transit‑plus have shared that the limited hours made it hard to get to early medical appointments, work, and evening activities.

“This change reflects what we’ve consistently heard from our riders,” said Roman Steichen, Director of Transit Services. “Expanding service hours means more flexibility, more independence, and more opportunities for older adults and people with disabilities across Frederick County.”

To learn more or schedule a Transit‑plus ride, community members can visit Transit’s website or call 301-600-2065.
