Kenosha County Courthouse to host Sept. 18 blood drive
The Kenosha County Courthouse is again a participating site in the City of Kenosha’s partnership with Abbott and the Big Ten Conference’s annual We Give Blood Drive competition.
The Courthouse blood drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.
County employees and members of the public who are interested in donating blood are invited to register here.
Donors will receive a free University of Wisconsin hat and a coupon for a pint of custard at Culver's.
Drives will also be held Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the Kenosha Public Museum and Friday, Oct. 30, at the Northside Community Library.

The City of Kenosha is once again encouraging residents to roll up their sleeves in support of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as part of the Abbott and Big Ten Conference's annual We Give Blood Drive competition.
Now in its third year, the college rivalry-inspired campaign aims to address the nation's ongoing blood shortage while promoting lifesaving blood donations across Big Ten communities.
The university that records the most blood donations between Aug. 12 and Dec. 4 will receive a $1 million grant from Abbott to support community or student health initiatives.
The University of Wisconsin claimed first place in last year's competition, and the City of Kenosha is inviting residents to help the Badgers defend their title by donating at one of three local blood drives through a partnership with Versiti.

Those who show up to donate at one of the city-sponsored blood drives will receive a free University of Wisconsin hat and a Culver’s coupon for a pint of custard.
Donors who log their points on bigten.org/abbott can select an exclusive t-shirt for their favorite Big Ten school. People can also donate at any blood drive or blood center in Kenosha and log their donation.
“This year’s competition kicks off at a time when the country is facing a critical blood shortage, with donations dropping to a four-year summer low,” said Lou Morrone, Abbott’s Executive Vice President of Core Diagnostics.

Donated blood has a direct, life-saving impact right here in Kenosha. The Kenosha Fire Department is the first fire-based EMS service in Wisconsin to carry blood on all of its front-line ambulances.
Through the fire department’s dynamic prehospital blood administration program, paramedics can deliver life-saving transfusions at the scene of an emergency, giving patients a critical head start before arriving at the hospital. This cutting-edge initiative means that blood donated locally helps save lives in Kenosha in real time, often within minutes of a traumatic injury or medical emergency.
