Montgomery County Completes Annual Point-in-Time Count
County Executive Commends Efforts to Support Vulnerable Residents
FONDA, N.Y. --Montgomery County Executive Pete Vroman announced today the successful completion of this year’s Point-in-Time (PIT) Count conducted by the Department of Social Services.
The annual initiative provides vital data on homelessness in Montgomery County by tracking the number of all sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals. The count helps determine funding needs, guide community planning, and identify trends or patterns in service usage.
“I commend the Department of Social Services staff for their dedication and compassion in carrying out this critical effort. Their hard work ensures that we can continue to make informed decisions to address homelessness and provide meaningful resources to those who need them most,” Vroman said.
Before conducting the PIT Count, employees held a briefing, formed teams, and identified locations to visit throughout the county, including rest areas, big-box stores, emergency rooms, and gas stations.
No unsheltered individuals were located during the count; however, sheltered individuals were residing at Daneille’s House, the Kimball Street Warming Center operated by Catholic Charities, or in one of the designated hotels or motels.
“I am proud to have an incredibly dedicated team who went out on one of the coldest nights of the year to assess the needs of one of the most vulnerable populations,” said Commissioner of Health & Human Services Matthew Beck.”
