Black Mental Health Film Set to Inspire Hope and Healing Among those Recovering from Eating Disorders

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2021 / — Canadian Filmmaker, Elizabeth Ayiku, has turned to crowdfunding platform, GoFundMe, to finance the completion of her upcoming feature film, Me Little Me, addressing Black mental health and eating disorder recovery.

Me Little Me is a narrative feature film about Mya, a young Black woman fiercely pursuing a promotion at work, while also attending an intensive out-patient treatment program for eating disorder recovery. The young and ambitious Mya finds herself especially alone. As though balancing her mental health and relationships wasn’t hard enough, tension rises when she’s promoted in her male-dominant industry with demanding expectations and delinquent co-workers.

Stress rises to an all-time high, and cold reminders of her past start knocking to find their way in, while she struggles to find day-to-day happiness. Together, obstacles culminate until everything comes tumbling down. Cornered by her treatment center, boss, family and friends, she's soon trapped by expectations of greatness. In a humble and heart breaking journey, Mya embodies just how complicated, tiring, and lonely it can be to feel a little self-love.

Statistics indicate that Black Americans are 20 per cent more likely to experience mental health problems, but only 25 per cent seek treatment. As it relates to eating disorders, approximately 28.8 million Americans will have an eating disorder in their lifetime. More alarmingly are the statistics showing that that 10 per cent of those diagnosed with an eating disorder deal with symptoms of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, depression and mood disorders.

Me Little Me, a film about recovery, sheds light on a subject that is often considered taboo and strives to accurately depict what eating order discovery is really like especially for people of color. The film is based on Ayiku’s own recovery journey from an eating disorder over 12 years ago. When asked to share the motivation for creating the feature film, she explained: “ Me Little Me was birthed out of frustration. Nothing I was watching in the mainstream came close to an accurate portrayal of what recovering from an eating disorder looked like for myself and others I knew. I created this film because I want to show a side of eating disorder discovery that’s not usually seen on screen and to share a message of hope and healing.”

Me Little Me has been the making for the last three years. Over that time, Ayiku has managed to raise $35,000 through the support of individual outreach, sponsors and other fundraisers. The film is currently in the final stages of production; However, the team needs additional funds for finishing touches. The GoFundMe campaign goal is $4,500- a sum that is expected to cover expenses for color correction and music licensing. Anyone can back the campaign with any amount or share with their network to bring awareness.

Ethicon Hit with TVT-O Lawsuit in East Texas by Martin Baughman, PLLC

Dr. Greg Vigna, national pharmaceutical injury attorney and practicing physician, comments on the vaginal mesh litigation by his law firm.

The risks of the transobturator sling far outweigh the perceived benefit given there are much safer designs and procedures available for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence.”

— Dr. Greg Vigna

SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2021 / — “The Ethicon TVT-O continues to cause serious injuries acutely after implantation or become symptomatic years”…Greg Vigna, MD, JD

In July 2021, Ethicon, Inc. was hit with a lawsuit filed by a woman who sustained grievous ‘latent’ injuries caused by the implantation of the TVT-O device in June of 2008, a polypropylene sling, used for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence in the Eastern District of Texas, Texarkana Division, (No. 5:21-cv-00092).

Transobturator (TOT) slings and single-incision slings that insert into the obturator internus muscle are known to chronic pain syndromes that may occur acutely after shortly after implant, or ‘latent injuries’ that become symptomatic months to years later caused by perpetual inflammation and scarification.

Greg Vigna, MD, JD, national pharmaceutical injury attorney, practicing physician, and Certified Life Care Planner comments on the vaginal mesh litigation by his law firm:

“Boston Scientific, Coloplast, and Ethicon, as to this day they still have not warned physicians of the risk of pudendal and obturator neuralgia from a properly placed TOT device that was described by AUGS in 2020 as ‘extrapelvic pain’ in the AUGS-IUGA Joint Position Statement on the Management of Mesh-Related Complications for the FPMRS Specialist. The risks of the transobturator sling far outweigh the perceived benefit given there are much safer designs and procedures available for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence. My firm will be litigating these cases for years to come or until the last polypropylene transvaginal mesh device is surgically removed.”

The Plaintiff is represented by Ben C. Martin and Laura Baughman of Martin Baughman, PLLC, and Greg Vigna, MD, JD. Ben Martin and Laura Baughman are national pharmaceutical injury attorneys in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Vigna is a California and Washington DC lawyer who focuses on catastrophic injuries and the neurological injuries caused by transvaginal mesh devices including pudendal neuralgia, obturator neuralgia, ilioinguinal neuralgia, and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

The Vigna Law Group targets the below transobturator (TOT) slings and mini-slings that cause pudendal and obturator neuralgia:

Ethicon: TVT-O, Abbrevo
Boston Scientific: Obtryx, Solyx
Coloplast: Aris, Altis

The Vigna Law Group targets the below retropubic slings that cause ilioinguinal neuralgia, pudendal neuralgia, and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome:

Everyone Should Have These 3 Trees In Their Medicine Cabinet Says Author Dr. Cass Ingram

Author Natural Cures from Wild Tree Resins

Dr. Cass Ingram

Miracles from the far northern forest - spice, pine, birch.

Natural Cures from Wild Tree Resins

Spruce, Pine, Birch tree sap

Spruce Tree

In his new book, Natural Cures from Wild Tree Resins, Dr. Cass Ingram examines tree resin remedies and why they should be in everyone’s medicine cabinet.

The real miracles are found in wild nature, all through the powers of wild raw tree and plant resins. Using these super-potent natural medicines can revive and regenerate your health”

— Dr. Cass Ingram, osteopathic physician, and health researcher

LAKE FOREST, IL, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2021 / — Dr. Cass Ingram explains the powerful remedies and health benefits of trees from the far northern forest in his latest book, Natural Cures from Wild Tree Resins. Dr. Ingram says among the tree resins covered, three trees stand out and should be in everyone’s medicine cabinet: Spruce, Pine, and Birch. “Readers can use this book to learn how you can take advantage of these potent wild raw extracts to achieve supreme health,” says Dr. Ingram.
Dr. Ingram’s research shows how resins from trees like Spruce, Pine, and Birch can support good health and the value of having them on hand in the medicine cabinet.

• Spruce resin has been relied on through the ages as medicine with an emphasis on the treatment of respiratory disorders, skin
diseases, and wounds. It is also used for a wide range of conditions such as cold sores, eczema, fungal infections, kidney and bladder infections, and others.

• Pine resin as well has a long history of medicinal use. It is well established that it is effective for joint pain, bronchitis, flu, colds, stomach disorders, and as an anti-depressant. It is also used for controlling and reversing stubborn obesity and can kill or inhibit tumor cells.

• Birch is most renowned for its value as a source of the therapeutic mushroom-like growth known as Chaga. Its multiple uses include the treatment and reversal of high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, prostate inflammation, Lyme disease, immune deficiency, tuberculosis, osteoporosis, and reversing aging of the skin.

“The real miracles are found in wild nature, all through the powers of wild raw tree and plant resins. Using these super-potent natural medicines can revive and regenerate your health,” said Dr. Cass Ingram, osteopathic physician, and health researcher. “Wild tree resin extracts are lifesavers. Taking advantage of their healing powers through their extreme potency can promote the best health you could possibly ever imagine.”

Americans today may not know that their ancestors who lived in the northeast, used spruce-based medicines by chewing the tree gum for throat, lung, and stomach trouble. Early dentists urged its use for maintaining healthy gums and preservation of the teeth.

“As today’s demand for natural supplements and medicines continues to grow, these trees can be in your medicine cabinet in the form of extracts, pine needles, cream, teas, capsules, and mixed with honey,” says Dr. Ingram. He has made available a limited number of raw, wild forest complexes. Dr. Ingram says the extracts are raw because cooking or adding alcohol for preservation greatly reduces their value.

All elements for these complexes are hand-selected and hand-harvested from remote areas of the world and are free of all residues of pesticides, herbicides, and noxious petrochemicals says Dr. Ingram.

For more information or to order Natural Cures from Wild Tree Resins and the tree products for your medicine cabinet visit Dr. Cass Ingramat or call 800-295-3737.

Pat Hinton Walker of Coaching Stepping Stones to be Featured on Close Up Radio

CANTON, GEORGIA, UNITED STATES, July 30, 2021 / — Educating individuals about the role of health and wellness, personally, professionally, or organizationally, can ultimately help drive change.

Pat Hinton Walker is the founder of Coaching Stepping Stones, where she specializes in career and life transition as well as executive leadership development.

Prior to launching Coaching Stepping Stones, Walker was a leader in the nursing profession. Naturally, her coaching integrates health and wellness.

“Everything we do and don’t do impacts our health and wellness,” says Walker. “Health and wellness coaching touches everyone.”

According to Walker, 90 percent of people in the US have a chronic condition they manage. They go to work, they take their pills, they're monitoring their blood pressure and blood sugar. How do we assist people in integrating health and wellness into their life?

“We tend to think the only mind we have is in our head,” says Walker. “The key is: what does it take to get the attention of the person? The body will eventually demand your attention.”

“When you have optimal health and wellness, your heart, your head and your gut are all buddies hanging out and having a good time,” explains Walker. “When you're not, then the heart, the head and the gut and are not friendly anymore. They don't like each other. They plot against each other. Health and wellness integrate us.”

Health and wellness coaching touches organizations, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“At an organizational level we’ve been following COVID protocols, but health and wellness extends to what’s in the vending machines, as well as how are leaders help employees manage stress,” says Walker. “If you've got a leader that cares about their own health, frequently they will value health within the company.”

In addition to assisting people to be the best they can be, Walker also teaches health and wellness coaching to coaches who are trying to be certified.

“Whether it’s individuals who want to be coaches or coaches who are already certified, we have an increasing number who want to integrate health and wellness into their coaching,” says Walker.

Close Up Radio will feature Pat Hinton Walker in an interview with Doug Llewelyn on August 3rd at 12pm EDT

Dr. Sina Bari Explores the Use of GANs to Predict Pediatric Craniofacial Disorder Outcomes

Dr. Sina Bari hopes that his advancements in this field will allow plastic surgeons like himself to show parents a glimpse of the results before their children or wards undergo surgery.

Dr. Sina Bari hopes that his advancements in this field will allow plastic surgeons like himself to show parents a glimpse of the results before their children or wards undergo surgery.

Dr. Sina Bar speaks on the Use of GANs to Predict Pediatric Craniofacial Disorder Outcomes

OAKLAND,, CA, USA, July 30, 2021 / — Among the most common human congenital disabilities, pediatric craniofacial disorders are second only to congenital heart diseases, and they present an enormous health challenge and social burden. With Medical AI and Healthcare Technology integrating with Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Dr. Sina Bari hopes that his advancements in this field will allow plastic surgeons like himself to show parents a glimpse of the results before their children or wards undergo surgery.

Dr. Sina Bari’s Tech Background in AI and Machine Learning Is a Crucial Part of This Development. Though he would later specialize in plastic surgery, Sina Bari MD had a somewhat tortuous personal journey to this role. From a young age, he fell in love with computer science and first learned to program at eight years of age. He would sit next to his mother, translating her programming texts. Sina Bari went on to work in networking and parallel computing in high school, where he won an award from the National Science Foundation. During his undergraduate and medical school period, he worked in IT to pay his fees.

Upon completing medical school, Dr. Sina Bari was one of three selected participants in Stanford Hospital and Clinics’ accelerated Plastic Surgery residency. Here, he trained with industry leaders to learn advanced techniques in craniofacial surgery, hand surgery, reconstructive surgery and aesthetics.

Having been previously exposed to tech, Sina Bari MD once again connected with his early passion via the bio innovation program at Stanford. He hopes that GANs will help doctors give more accurate depictions of craniofacial procedural results.

How Dr. Sina Bari Aims to Improve Craniofacial Disorder Outcomes Using Advanced AI Techniques. With his experience in computer science and plastic surgery, Dr. Sina Bari has created sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms to help not only surgeons but also parents visualize plastic surgery outcomes. This breakthrough will allow surgeons to better counsel and guide parents on realistic post-op expectations. Medical AI technology will also help doctors pick the most appropriate treatment route for every pediatric patient. At the same time, it will help patients’ parents better understand potential complications and get a more realistic idea of the potential time frame for recovery.

Helping pediatric patients suffering from craniofacial disorders go on to lead their best lives forms part of the core of what Sina Bari MD is all about. And, with these groundbreaking advancements in medical AI, he hopes to change how plastic surgeons interact with children and create a more rounded understanding of and improve satisfaction with results.
